There are few beaches that can rival that of Lake Bennett on a hot, sunny Yukon summer day. From downtown Carcross, you can stroll along the beach to the mouth of the Watson River, a distance of about 2 kilometers, enjoying stunning mountain views along the way. Or better yet - just relax and perfect those sand castles.
Carcross is home to the “world’s smallest desert”, great for exploring on foot in the summer and by toboggan, snowboard, snowmobile or skis in the winter.

Carcross is an ideal location from which to stage a boat trip into the beautiful Southern Lakes region of the Yukon. There is a public boat launch and abundant parking located on the north side of the Nares River bridge.

Carcross is a premiere kiting and windsurfing destination. Strong coastal winds transform Lake Bennett into a wind sports paradise from late May to early September. Lake Bennett and the Carcross desert are a snow kiting playground in late winter/early spring.
Carcross boasts a wonderful network of ski and snowshoe trails which can be accessed from the field behind the school. 2, 5, and 10 kilometer loops take you through the dunes and sparse pine forest adjoining Lake Bennett. The trails are regularly groomed in the winter.
